Plugin Management

Describes how to manage plugins in FreeCORE.

This page describes FreeCORE 15.0. On 15.1 the plugin store is retired; existing plugin jails remain under Jails. See Plugins, Jails and Applications before upgrading.

Plugins package an application and its dependencies in a managed FreeBSD jail.

Before installing a plugin:

• Create or select a data pool for jails and plugins.
• Confirm that FreeCORE can reach the Internet and resolve DNS names.
• Plan storage and backups for application data before installation.

Browse the FreeCORE Collection

Go to Plugins. The available applications come from the FreeCORE collection and can change independently of the operating-system release. Use Refresh Index to fetch the current catalogue. An empty catalogue means no applications are currently published for the installed FreeCORE release.

Select a listed plugin to review its description and version, then click Install.

Install a Plugin

Enter a unique Jail Name and choose the network configuration. Use Advanced Plugin Installation only when the application needs non-default jail or network properties.

Click Save to start the installation job. When the plugin provides post-install notes, read them before opening its management interface.

Manage an Installed Plugin

Installed plugins appear below the catalogue. Expand a row to see the controls available for its current state:

• Start, Stop, and Restart control the plugin jail.
• Update updates the plugin and can optionally update its jail.
• Mount Points exposes selected storage datasets to the plugin jail.
• Manage opens an available application management portal.
• Post Install Notes displays instructions supplied by the plugin.
• Uninstall removes the plugin.

Use a separately managed dataset and a jail mount point for important application data where the plugin supports that layout. Include both the application data and any required configuration in the backup plan.

Uninstall a Plugin

Expand the installed plugin and click Uninstall. The confirmation dialog warns that deleting the plugin deletes data and snapshots stored with it and requires the jail name before proceeding.

Verify backups and any external mount-point data before confirming. Uninstalling removes the plugin jail from both Plugins and Jails.
